"give us bread, but give us roses" II

Project Type

Photography

Date

April 2023

This is a continuing development based on part I, inspired by the same quote. The quote is from a book talking about the inequality and abuses most garment workers face. The book starts off by showing a day of a normal female garment worker in LA. She gets up early at 7am, and finishes her work past 8pm. There is no time for her to rest, and she only gets paid below minimum wages. She has a family to support, so she cannot rest or speak up for herself. The current life of the worker traps her and makes her feel miserable and desperate, but she still has hope in her heart that her life will get better, and there will be flowers blooming in her life. Part II extracts general silhouette from floral shapes, and uses a gradient of colors from pink to dark green to show differences in constraint and freedom.
